Writing is an Outlet

Writing, for me, is an outlet for 

my very deepest emotions.

Since grade school when I bought my first diary, I found putting a pen 
to paper helped me to get in touch with my feelings easier than talking 
about them. Then when I became a follower of Jesus, I used prayer journals 
as a way to touch base best with the Lord of my life. Journals have taken 
over a few shelves in my bedroom bookshelf, but I rarely re-read them 
since there is always something new waiting to be written or read.

Several years ago I began blogging my soul-thoughts through this little blog post. It's time to start again. I look forward to bringing you Bible in a Year, the Verse of the Day, and other spiritual encouragements in 2018.

God's Plan: A Future With Hope

God has amazing and unique plans for each of us. The plans He has for me don't look like the ones He has for you. We are all created differently, so of course, it makes sense His plans will be different for us. Rest in the fact that God is in charge and will work things out for our good.

However, the enemy of our soul will do everything he can to gang up on us with his evil army by causing us to compare and complain, taking our eyes off the Lord.  We will be tempted to wonder about God's actions in our life, and why He's taking so long to reveal certain plans.

When plans don't work out as fast as we'd like, satan likes to disrupt our lives by bringing negativity into our minds. And he sometimes uses other people to wreck some of the havoc, not just our own negative thoughts. Remember this: anything that brings glory to God, is part of satan's battlefield. 

As I plan, satan whispers so much negativity about my dream of serving the Lord that I am certain he knows there will be lives changed, including my own. And so, I pray often for the Lord to take over and guide my steps as I seek to share Jesus with the people I come in contact with. God has a plan and satan does not get to mess it up!

My lesson learned and advice to you now is this:

• Keep your eyes on the Lord and in His word. 
• Don't become derailed by looking at other people.  
• Refuse to allow jealousy, bitterness, and envy to take residence in your heart. 
• While you're waiting for God to reveal His plans, serve Him and others.
• Pray. Pray. And pray!

Weakness and Strength

While munching popcorn and watching the movie 'What If…' one day, I found some surprise inspiration in a few places, and thought provoking ideas in others. The movie is a fictional account of a man who was given a glimpse into what his life could have been, with an angel overseeing his journey. One thing he said that hit home was this:

 “My greatest weakness 

is God’s greatest strength.”

Oh, have my greatest weaknesses been used by the Lord for His glory as He shows me His strength and pushed me to go on when I didn't want to.

Those words in the movie brought a flood of memories to my heart. God has used me in more and more opportunities to share my troublesome times in life to encourage others. Because I am weak, I have learned to lean on Him  because He is strong.

So, I think it's time for us to all come before God in humility, asking Him to use our weaknesses, all for His glory. He will show you great things that He can do if you allow Him to move in your life.

Trust Him with all of your heart to work in your life, using everything you are.
